Picture this handsome platter on your coffee table, or serving up nibbles to your guests. Here Laurie layers vibrant colours on dark transparent green glass. The result is a depth of colour and unique abstract design, glossy on top with a soft matte back. The glass layers have been so artistically arranged, you could even hang this on a narrow wall as an art piece.

Glass artist Laurie Freivogel calls her work "glass under pressure". In a new technique, Laurie applies weight to the layers of glass, fusing it at high temperatures. The weight presses the glass out and into itself to make these amazing colorations, depth and shadows. The glass goes into the kiln another time or two to fire polish, then a final time into (or over) a mold to achieve it’s final shape. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind functional sculpture.
