Gary Kennell
Gary has had a life-long fascination with working in wood. As a hobbyist, he taught himself through trial and error how to choose the right wood and has pushed the limits of time honored cutting board techniques by introducing colors into the boards and using non-traditional woods. Today he is a full time craftsman, focusing on functional pieces for the kitchen and dining room. He often spots pieces of wood that are inherently beautiful, or combines colors and textures of different kinds of wood in unexpected ways: light and dark, burled and smooth, knotty and marble-like. He recently moved his workshop from west-end Toronto to Brockville in Eastern Ontario and is enjoying being able to stretch out in his bigger work and display space.
