OT Glass
Otter Rotolante has been interested in art and illustration since grade school. As an undergraduate he studied ad design and graphic arts, then later naturalism and botany at Evergreen State College.
In 1996 Otter decided to focus his artistic study on the medium of glass, apprenticing in the European tradition with old time master lamp worker Robert Snodgrass, and also attended the Eugene Glass School in Oregon.
The work he now produces clearly show mastery of the craft. Otter deliberately blows the glassware "not-quite-perfect", often shaping it off-round or tilted. He uses lamp working technique with molten glass to paint details to the outside of each piece, be it a splash of color or underwater scenes. The coloring of the glass itself takes on a yellow tone in bright sunlight, with subtle iridescent blues in shadows.
