Chris Hierlihy
Chris Hierlihy is a Guelph, ON potter who has developed a distinctive style, combining his interest in ceramics, drawing, design and function. He obtained his Craft and Design Diploma as well as completed two years specializing in ceramics at Sheridan Collage in Oakville. Chris also has his Bachelor of Studio Arts Honours specializing in painting, drawing and printmaking from the University of Guelph.
Using paper resist, slip work, drawing and glaze interactions, Chris adds images to each piece. The unexpected mixture of subject matter (sometimes bulldozers and dinosaurs!) and tactile glazes, sets his work apart. All of Chris’ pottery is food safe, durable and meant to find frequent use in homes and lives.
Care Instructions: Not oven safe, and although microwave and dishwasher safe, hand washing any pottery is the best way to prolong it’s brilliance.
