Sabbath Day Woods
Desmond Suarez was born into a household resplendent in craft furniture. His mother designed homes, and his father worked in his own cabinet making shop. Here Desmond gained the woodworking skills and the eye for design needed for success in the furniture business. His formal education led him to North Carolina, England and Tennessee, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in art, religion and education.
After years of teaching school, Desmond went into commercial furniture manufacturing for the next 18 years. During this period, he developed an appreciation for the clean, timeless designs of Shaker furniture and the American “Arts & Crafts Movement”. Since 2001 he has worked out of his own studio in Canton, NC to create a collection of clocks and serving boards.
Desmond uses only the finest select certified sustainable Appalachian hardwoods, time-proven joinery, and a silky smooth hand rubbed oil finish.
