Margot Page Enamels
Margot Page was born in India in 1944 and spent her childhood in England. Her family moved to Montreal when she was eleven years old.
She started out as a freelance fashion illustrator in Montreal then moved onto teaching drawing at Sheridan College in Toronto, ON. A colleague introduced her to enameling, and Margot discovered this to be the perfect medium to transition to with her own black & white drawings.
Shifting gears, in 1986, Margot spent nearly ten years sailing the world's oceans, settling at last on Canada’s west coast on Vancouver Island. Here she allows the nature around her inspire the enamel work she now produces.
Margot ‘draws’ her enameled images by sifting finely ground coloured silicates onto copper blanks. These are fired in a kiln at high heat, fusing the powder into molten glass. The result is an original piece of art, made just for you!
