Wayne Cardinalli Pottery
Wayne has been a full-time professional potter for over 50 years. Receiving his MFA from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art, his student work tended toward non-functional vessels. With maturity came a greater interest in function and for the major part of his career Wayne has been known as a staunchly functional potter.
About 6 years ago a minor accident forced him to work differently. Not able to throw on the potter’s wheel and still wanting to work, Wayne started making highly textured slab trays. As the injury healed, he began combining thrown elements with textured slabs and the new work came full circle with his student work. A whole new way of working and thinking emerged. Wayne has also regularly taught ceramics, finding that taking a little time away from the studio keeps ideas fresh.
Wayne continues to enjoy producing clay art in his Mississauga, ON studio.
