This platter is art for the table....or for the wall. Here Laurie layers a mix of transparent and opaque blues, and ivory. The result is a depth of colour, glossy inside with a soft matte exterior. While this piece would look lovely on a coffee table, or kitchen counter, Laurie's work is also meant to be used to serve food. It is art on the table!

Glass artist Laurie Freivogel calls her work "glass under pressure". In a new technique, Laurie applies weight to the layers of glass, fusing it at high temperatures. The weight presses the glass out and into itself to make these amazing colorations, depth and shadows. The glass goes into the kiln another time or two to fire polish, then a final time into (or over) a mold to achieve it’s final shape. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind functional sculpture.
