Glass Bowl, large
This is a spectacular bowl with such a depth of colour. Here Laurie layers a mix of plum, steel blue, ivory and driftwood gray glass. The result almost appears like natural stone, glossy inside with a soft matte exterior. This piece would look lovely on a coffee table, or kitchen counter for art to enjoy every day.
Approx. 12 3/4" x 11" x 2" tall
Glass artist Laurie Freivogel calls her work "glass under pressure". In a new technique, Laurie applies weight to the layers of glass, fusing it at high temperatures. The weight presses the glass out and into itself to make these amazing colorations, depth and shadows. The glass goes into the kiln another time or two to fire polish, then a final time into (or over) a mold to achieve it’s final shape. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind functional sculpture.
