This distinctive bowl packs a lot of colour in a small vessel. Here Laurie layers egyptian blues, white and ivory glass - the result is a depth of colour, glossy inside with a soft matte exterior. This piece would look lovely serving up nibbles to your guests, and is sturdy enough to catch your keys at your entryway.
Approx. 4 3/4" diameter x 1 3/4" tall
Glass artist Laurie Freivogel calls her work "glass under pressure". In a new technique, Laurie applies weight to the layers of glass, fusing it at high temperatures. The weight presses the glass out and into itself to make these amazing colorations, depth and shadows. The glass goes into the kiln another time or two to fire polish, then a final time into (or over) a mold to achieve it’s final shape. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind functional sculpture.
