Monica discovered clay during her first year of college in the US. It so sparked her creativity that she promptly enrolled in as many clay classes as possible. On her return home to Toronto, she continued her studies at Sheridan College and the Ontario College of Art and Design. Then followed two years working and living in both Japan and Peru. Even in her travels, Monica sought out and joined local pottery studios to further develop new pottery making techniques. She found personal inspiration the the traditional pottery of both countries.
Monica now lives in Kitchener, ON where she loves create her beautiful, functional pieces, meant to be enjoyed in daily use. She works equally well on the potter's wheel and with hand-building clay vessels. Her work reflect the texture and design in the natural world, and she frequently uses found objects to create patterns in clay. Monica is a current member of the Potters' Guilds and Hamilton and Waterloo, ON.
