This beautiful glass sphere is modeled after antique fishing floats that sometimes wash ashore on the west coast. Dennis Schmitz of Pyromania Glass studio in Newport OR created this piece with his signature textured swirled pattern.
Described as a 'sitting float', this glass is similar style to the original fishing floats. Once they're blown to the desired size, a "plug" of glass is fused onto the Float to seal the opening left by the blowpipe. This flattened area provides a base for the Float to sit on.
